Cranial therapeutics including Core Synchronism: an explanation

The human body is extraordinarily adaptable to changes within and around it. In fact, we are constantly experiencing hundreds of complex internal changes in order to achieve and maintain our balance. These occur within the central nervous system, the muscles, the fascia and skeletal structures as well as our internal organs and even emotionally with our outlook and sense of well being.

It is due to our flexibility to respond to our environment that we are able to deal with Trauma. Trauma includes both emotional and physical events, such as shock, bereavement after the death of a loved one, injury, infection and surgical intervention. Our body naturally acts to avoid pain and will adapt to certain positions in order to minimize, but not cure, certain problems. This adaptation leaves us in a state of imbalance that if left uncorrected will result in greater pain and potentially more severe symptoms and disorders.

The structural changes due to trauma often result in decreased circulation. This leads to diminished nervous system communication and decreased endocrine and organ function. Where circulation between body systems is diminished it becomes more difficult to carry nutrients and oxygen to the area. This results in a lowered immune response and an increased amount of pain and discomfort as well as atrophy and degeneration.

The core synchronism practitioner works by addressing the manifesting symptom. More importantly they specialize in finding and correcting the underlying cause of the symptom. The practitioner is trained to help resolve the trapped forces that create the patterns of imbalance and disease. This involves the practitioner utilizing their hands to listen to the body's subtle rhythms and to help correct proper movement and function.

Numerous diagnosed complaints can be helped therapeutically with Core Synchronism. These may include disorders that involve chronic or recurrent pain such as migraines, arthritis, whiplash or sciatica. Core Synchronism can also help disorders of the immune system, including recurrent infections and autoimmune disorders. It is also helpful for any neurological or stress induced disorder including, temporomandibular disorder, seizures, attention deficit disorder and depression. Lastly, Core Synchronism can benefit less specific complaints such as nervousness, fatigue, insomnia, indigestion, backache, headache, etc.

Core practitioners have helped people of all ages: from newborn babies to people transitioning into death. It is highly useful for women during all stages of pregnancy, pre and post-partum as well as during labor. Core synchronism is also helpful for children and especially infants to help shift any birth trauma that may have occurred. Core Synchronism does not interfere with other therapies. There are no contraindications to Core Synchronism work.

Core Synchronism: Q & A

Q: What Happens during a Core Synchronism treatment?

A: The session begins with a brief intake where you will discuss your chief health concerns with your Core Synchronism practitioner. After this you will lie comfortably on the treatment table. You will not need to undress as this is not a massage. The practitioner will then begin the treatment where they place their hands on your body, typically on the areas of chief concern as well as on your head, along your spine and often on your feet. When they do this they are working on synchronizing various parts of your body that they have found to be out of balance.

Q: Will the treatment hurt?

A: No. Core is relaxing, safe and gentle. The touch used is very light and does not create any pain. Most people who receive a Core treatment become deeply relaxed and often go into what they describe as a meditative state. Many people say that they still feel relaxed and very calm for the next few days after the treatment. Though not as common it is possible that you may experience some physical discomfort for the next 48 hours after the treatment. This is actually a good sign. This indicates that renewed circulation and nerve impulses are opening up the energy flow to the area in order to aid in its healing process.

Q: How many treatments will be required?

A: There is no fixed amount. As a general rule, however, recent problems may be resolved more quickly. If you are dealing with older issues, it may take more treatments until the body un-learns the trauma pattern and the correct movement is re-established. If the issue you are dealing with is on-going stress, then you may want to schedule regular treatments.

Q: How long do Core treatments take?

A: Your first treatment will last an hour and 15 minutes in order to include a brief discussion about your health. All subsequent treatments generally last 45-50 minutes but please leave an hour open in your schedule to accommodate a few minutes needed for post-treatment relaxation.

Q: How do I make an appointment?

A: Dr. Anne Hill sees patients for Core Synchronism during normal weekday office hours. Please call 503-313-3605 to book your appointment.
